Mission Statement
| Meals on Wheels is a voluntary organization engaged in an effort to keep people in their own homes as long as possible by delivering hot, nutritionally well-balanced meals. It is designed for those unable to cook for themselves or requiring special diets, to help restore or maintain health and to provide daily personal contact to check on the clients' well-being. The meals are prepared by a professional staff. A trained dietitian supervises special diets. |
Program Summary
| Volunteers deliver hot, nutritious meals, including breakfast, five days a week to people who are unable to cook for themselves. Client Story
| Mrs. Smith lived in her own home where she has lived since she and her husband built it 40 years ago. Her husband has recently passed away and her children are looking into moving her to an assisted living facility but Mrs. Smith would like to remain in her own home. Mrs. Smith is capable of taking her own medication and looking after herself in general but she just doesn't feel up to cooking or preparing her own meals. After talking with a friend Mrs. Smith's daughter called Meals on Wheels to get information on their program. Mrs. Smith got signed up to have meals delivered 5 days a week and frozen meals delivered on Friday for the weekend. With the assistance of Meals on Wheels, Mrs. Smith was able to stay in her own home for an additional 7 happy, healthy years. |
