Funds / Grants

The Community Foundation manages more than 140 funds. These funds are as varied as the donors who establish them and include unrestricted funds, donor-advised funds, agency funds, and more. Many of these funds make grants through both competitive and non-competitive grantmaking programs. In 2015 alone, The Foundation distributed $1.9 million in total grants and program support to 115 organizations.

Non-competitive grantmaking programs have no application process.  The Community Foundation accepts recommendations year-round from fund advisors, who work with Foundation staff to ensure their granting has the greatest impact, based on their charitable interests.

Competitive grantmaking programs accept applications for funding and award grants on the basis of merit and compatibility with the goals of the program. Because the Foundation is nonsectarian, it does not support religious programming through competitive grants.  It does, however, support religious organizations serving the community through projects and programs that address the goals and objectives of the Foundation's grantmaking initiatives.
